Milwaukee bus driver helps reunite lost dogs with family in time for the holidays

MILWAUKEE — A Milwaukee bus driver may have given one family the sweetest gift of all this holiday season, by reuniting them with their two lost dogs.

Bus driver Jaime Grabowski had finished her bus route around midnight on Dec. 18 and was headed back to the garage when she saw a pair of dogs running in the street, according to a Milwaukee County Transit System news release. With the temperatures hovering around 20 degrees that night, Grabowski, who is an animal lover and considers herself a bit of a “dog whisperer” according to the MCTS, stopped and coaxed the dogs onto the bus.

The pit bull and Doberman pinscher were friendly and proceeded to check out the bus while Grabowski called for assistance. An officer arrived and transported the dogs to the Milwaukee Area Domestic Animal Control Commission. Officials there discovered the duo had escaped from their family’s yard two-and-a-half miles away from where Grabowski has found them. The family spent the night searching for the dogs, but had been unable to find them on their own, according to the MCTS news release.

All involved were relieved that the dogs were reunited with their family, in time to celebrate the holidays.
