Military plane crashes during training flight at Eglin Air Force Base

PENSACOLA, Fla. — A military jet crashed during a training flight at Eglin Air Force Base.

Officials at the military base in Florida said the jet was not part of a flyover team that had taken to the sky to honor coronavirus first responders. The crash happened just after the tribute, WMBB reported.

The pilot ejected safely just before the F-22 crashed.

The pilot was taken to the 96th Medical Group hospital on the base for evaluation and observation, the release said. He was reported to be in stable condition. The pilot’s name was not immediately.

Original reports had indicated that the plane was part of the flyover, but it was confirmed that it was not. Part of the flyover was supposed to go over Tyndall Air Force Base but that part of it was canceled due to unforeseen circumstances, WMBB reported.
