‘Jeopardy!’ champion Amy Schneider says she was robbed in Oakland

OAKLAND, Calif. — Reigning “Jeopardy!” champion Amy Schneider said she was robbed over the weekend in her hometown of Oakland, California.

Schneider, who is an engineering manager and lives in the city, said in a tweet that she was “fine” after Sunday’s incident, but added that her identification, credit cards and cellphone were stolen, The Washington Post reported.

The Ohio native, 42, became the woman with the most victories in “Jeopardy!” history last month after she won for the 21st time, the newspaper reported. In the show that aired Tuesday, she won for the 25th time and has won $918,000, according to the Post.

She also made history as the first transgender contestant to qualify for the show’s Tournament of Champions last month, according to NBC News.

“Two unknown individuals, one with a firearm, approached the victim and demanded the victim’s property,” investigators told KTVU-TV in an email. “The victim complied, and the individuals ran off with the victim’s personal belongings.”

A spokesperson for “Jeopardy!” said the show had reached out to Schneider to offer support.

“We were deeply saddened to hear about this incident, and we reached out to Amy privately to offer our help in any capacity,” the show said in a statement.

Schneider said that after the robbery she had trouble sleeping and had been occupied trying to replace the belongings she lost, the Post reported. She added that “it may take a bit” to catch up with the recaps.

“Thanks for your patience!” she wrote.
