‘Glee’ creators to start college fund for Naya Rivera’s son Josey

“Glee” creators Ryan Murphy, Brad Falchuk and Ian Brennan are speaking out about the death of actress Naya Rivera.

The body of Rivera, who played Santana Lopez on the high school-based show, was found Monday at Lake Piru, the same lake she was last seen at renting a boat for her and her 4-year-old son Josey, CNN reported.

Josey had told officials they had gone into the lake to swim, but she didn’t get back on the watercraft. He told officials that he saw her go under the water and not come up.

The boy was found on the boat, asleep but wearing a life jacket, when the pontoon was not returned on time, CNN reported.

On Tuesday, Murphy, Falchuk and Brennan remembered the actress who got her break on “Glee,” Deadline reported.

They wrote, “Naya was more than just an actor on our show - she was our friend,” Deadline reported.

The trio also wrote they were heartbroken.

“Our hearts go out to her family, especially her mom, Yolanda, who was a big part of the glee family and her son Josey. The three of us are currently in the process of creating a college fund for the beautiful son Naya loved most of all,” they said in the statement, according to Deadline.

Rivera’s body was found on the seven-year anniversary of the death of “Glee” actor Cory Monteith. Monteith died of a drug overdose on July 13, 2013, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
