Georgia firefighters go above and beyond to help elderly man with no family who fell

GLYNN COUNTY, Ga. — A pair of Georgia firefighters went above and beyond the call of duty to help an elderly man with no family.

The sweet Facebook post of what they did has since been shared over 10,000 times.

Glynn County firefighters J. Acosta and C. Sloan went to a home to help the man, who had fallen down, Glynn County Fire and Rescue wrote on Facebook. An hour later, they were called to the same home to help the man, who had fallen again.

“The elderly patient did not have any family to assist him with day-to-day tasks,” Glynn County Fire Rescue wrote on Facebook. “He was hungry but every time he tried to go to the kitchen he would fall.”

While Sloan tended to the patient, Acosta cooked him an egg sandwich and served it to him on a TV tray with orange juice.

Sloan and Acosta cleaned his kitchen while he ate breakfast.

By Saturday, hundreds of people had responded to the post on Facebook and were rallying together to try to get the patient the ongoing help he needs.

The Glynn County Fire Department is based in Brunswick. The department says people from all over the country are reaching out to help.
