President Donald Trump’s first Defense Secretary James Mattis, denounced him in a statement released Wednesday evening.
Mattis, a retired Marine general, resigned as defense secretary in 2018 in a military policy dispute with Trump. At the time, he said he owed the nation public silence while his former boss remained in office.
The release of his statement was a shift from silence, accusing Trump of intentionally trying to divide Americans.
