1 dead, several injured after semi, bus and truck collide in Florida

OSCEOLA COUNTY, Fla. — One person died and more than a dozen people were injured Wednesday in a crash in central Florida, according to authorities and WFTV.

Update 10:30 a.m. EDT Sept. 21: Officials with Osceola County Fire Rescue and EMS said one person died in Wednesday’s crash after mistakenly reporting two fatalities.

Officials told WFTV that the person who died was a passenger in a Dodge Ram pickup truck involved in the crash. The driver of the truck and the driver of a box-truck were airlifted to a hospital with serious injuries.

Fourteen people who were on the bus at the time of the crash were taken to hospitals with injuries that did not appear to be life-threatening, according to WFTV.

Update 9:20 a.m. EDT Sept. 21: Officials said 16 people suffered injuries that did not appear to be life-threatening following the crash on State Road 60 at Peavine Road in Osceola County. They were taken to hospitals for treatment of their injuries, according to Osceola County Fire Rescue and EMS.

Authorities said two injured people have been identified as trauma alerts. They were transported from the scene by Orlando Health Air Care Team helicopters.

According to WFTV, the deadly crash occurred Wednesday morning at the intersection of State Road 60 and Peavine Road in Osceola County. Osceola County Fire Rescue & EMS tweeted shortly after 7 a.m. EDT that crews were at the scene.

“More than a dozen victims are involved, and the response will likely close SR 60 for some time,” the post read.

The tweet did not specify how many victims died.
