LAFAYETTE, Ind. — A 1-month-old Indiana boy has died after a dog mauled him at a Lafayette home, authorities said.
According to the Lafayette Journal & Courier, police responded to the home at 11:30 a.m. Saturday after a teenage boy called to say a pit bull-mix had attacked his baby brother, Julian Connell. When authorities arrived, an officer shot the dog, who was standing over the infant, the newspaper reported. The baby, who was bitten on his neck and head, died at the hospital.
Investigators said the attack followed a fight between the pit bull and a beagle-mix, which was injured and treated at a nearby veterinary hospital. Julian’s mother was in the house when the incident occurred, police said.
No further information was immediately available.
