Philadelphia Eagles head coach Doug Pederson tests positive for coronavirus

PHILADELPHIA — Philadelphia Eagles coach Doug Pederson is the latest sports figure to test positive for the novel coronavirus.

In a statement shared on social media, the team said officials received confirmation of Pederson's diagnosis Sunday evening.

"Pederson is asymptomatic and doing well," the statement read. "He is currently in self-quarantine and in communication with the team's medical staff."

The team added that it is following COVID-19 protocols set by the league and the NFL Players Association.

"Any individuals in close contact with Pederson at our facility have been notified and will continue with daily testing procedures and compliance with all protocols before returning to the facility," the statement concluded.
