Comet seen by naked eye until end of July

Put away your telescope. It won’t be needed for this latest show in the sky.

The comet Neowise is passing near Earth and will be able to be seen without the aid of a telescope, CNN reported.

It’s officially known as C/2020 F3 and was observed using NASA’s NEOWISE satellite in March, Astronomy.com reported.

It will be closest to Earth next week and visible until the end of the month at early dawn and at dusk. Astrophysicist Karl Battams says to look for it very low in the sky and near the horizon, CNN reported. You may need binoculars to get a good look at it, Battams said.

For the next few days it will be easier to see at dawn with it being at the highest point in the morning on July 11. It will get lower each day and will be more easily visible at dusk, EarthSky reported.
