College football 2022: Preseason coaches poll released; where does your team rank?

The University of Alabama is, once again, atop of the 2022 USA TODAY Sports AFCA football coaches poll.

The Crimson Tide received 54 of 66 first-place votes, according to USA Today which co-sponsors the poll. Alabama is No. 1 as the season begins for the seventh time in 13 years.

Ohio State comes in as No. 2 with Georgia as No. 3, Clemson as No. 4 and Notre Dame rounding out the top five.

Michigan, the defending Big Ten champion is No. 6, Texas A&M is No. 7, Utah is No. 8, Oklahoma is No. 9 and Baylor is No. 10.

The SEC has six teams in the top 25 poll. The ACC has five ranked teams, while the Big Ten and Big 12 have four teams each in the poll and the Pac-12 has three. The American Conference has two teams in the poll.

The only independent team in the poll is Notre Dame.

The USA TODAY Sports American Football Coaches Association football coaches poll is conducted weekly throughout the regular season using a panel of 65 head coaches at Football Bowl Subdivision schools.
