BRONX, N.Y. — Eight people were hurt when a transit bus driver lost control of the vehicle, driving off the side of an overpass in the Bronx.
The articulated bus was seen dangling over the side of the overpass Thursday night, WCBS reported.
FDNY units are on scene of a motor vehicle accident at University Ave and the Cross Bronx Expressway in the Bronx where a tandem bus has crashed through the barriers and is hanging off the overpass onto the roadway below. The cables that connect the two portions kept the bus from falling 50 feet down, WPIX reported. The front of the bus did come to rest on the road below the bridge.

Passengers were thrown to the front of the accordion-like vehicle.
The driver, who had an injury to his jaw, got out of the wreckage and helped passengers to safety.
Officials told WABC the driver had been trying to turn left onto a ramp on the Washington Bridge when the crash happened.
