SALEM, Ore. — An 11-year-old boy was among three fatalities in a Salem hostage situation Monday afternoon, Oregon State Police confirmed.
The suspect in the standoff has been identified by the Marion County Sheriff’s office as Jose Jesus Lopez-Tinoco, 34, of Woodburn, KPTV reported.
Deputies found the bodies of Lopez-Tinoco, an unidentified 11-year-old boy and 24-year-old Diari Bustos-Bustos inside the home. Lopez-Tinoco appeared to have a self-inflicted gunshot wound, the TV station reported.
Deputies also discovered an unidentified 13-year-old boy who was uninjured and Laura Rocio-Bustos, 43, who had been shot and is currently hospitalized with serious injuries.
Oregon State Police confirmed one deputy fired “a yet to be determined number of rounds” during the forced-entry rescue, and deputy Ricky Kittelson has been placed on administrative leave per department protocol, KPTV reported.
