Blue Bell ice cream licker sentenced to jail time, fine

PORT ARTHUR, Texas — The 24-year-old man who was recorded licking a container of ice cream at a Texas Walmart will serve time behind bars for the prank.

D’Adrien Anderson was ordered this week to serve 30 days in jail before he gets 180 days probated over two years, KRIS reported.

He also was fined $1,000 and ordered to pay $1,565 restitution for the ice cream that had to be discarded at the Port Arthur store, KBMT reported.

Anderson also has to complete 100 hours of community service, KBMT reported.

Anderson pleaded guilty to a class A misdemeanor in January.

Video recorded in August 2019 and posted to Facebook showed Anderson taking a container of ice cream, opening it and licking it before putting it back on the shelf and walking away. Anderson said he took the ice cream after the camera stopped recording and paid for it, producing a receipt for police.

But Walmart still threw all of the Blue Bell ice cream away, KBMT reported.
