The application process is open for a program, paid for under the pandemic relief package passed in December, that will help pay the bill for internet coverage for millions of people who can not afford the service, The Associated Press reported.

The Federal Communications Commission, the agency administrating the Emergency Broadband Relief program, said tens of millions of people could be eligible, but they did not say exactly how many and how long the program will last, but it is expected to be several months.
