5 teen boys face 205 charges including rape, kidnapping

Five teens in New York are being charged with rape and kidnapping in what the Erie County District Attorney said was one of the largest cases his office has handled.

In all, the teens aged 13 to 19 years old face 205 charges related to two incidents, WGRZ reported.

The district attorney said Abdiwahab Sabtow and Brice Baker, both 19, and a 13-year old broke into a home and raped an 11-year-old girl who was home alone on Sept. 26, WIVB reported. When her mother got home, the teens ran but not before stealing a cell phone, according to prosecutors, WGRZ reported.

Prosecutors said Sabtow, the same 13-year-old, and a 14-year-old picked up a 16-year-old girl, offering her a ride, on Nov. 20 and took her to Potomac Park and raped her. They then drove to pick up Baker and another adult defendant. The group then took the girl to another location and raped her again. She was then held in a garage for several hours before escaping, WGRZ reported.

A good Samaritan saw her and offered to help.

Baker and Sabtow were charged as part of the indictment, as were the 13 and 14-year-olds. A third 19-year-old has not been arrested and police are on the lookout for him. His name was not released.

District Attorney John Flynn said that the people who allegedly committed the crimes will be held responsible, no matter their age.

“There is nothing more I want to see than justice done to [for] the 11 and 16-year-old girls,” Flynn said, according to WGRZ. “I don’t care how old the 13-and 14-year old suspects are, they need to spend as much time in jail as possible.”

The 19-year-olds face life in prison if convicted. The 13- and 14-year-olds face up to 15 years behind bars, WIVB reported.

Flynn said the group is part of a “kiddie gang” that is known in the Buffalo area, WIVB reported.

The victims are also currently under protection orders, WKBW reported.
