The men were shot near CHI Memorial Hospital, which prompted the medical facility to go into lockdown for three hours, the Chattanooga Times Free Press reported.

One man suffered a life-threatening gunshot wound, Chattanooga Police Department spokesperson Sgt. Jeremy Eames told reporters.

The other two victims' injuries were not life-threatening, WDEF reported. Police said they found two victims on the scene, while a third drove himself to an area hospital, the television reported.

“It’s still early in the investigation but, investigators already believe that this is going to be something that was very localized," Eames told reporters. "There is not a threat to the public at large.”

The shooting occurred shortly after 2 p.m., WRCB reported.

CHI Memorial spokesperson Lisa McCluskey told the Times Free Press that the hospital’s lockdown was lifted shortly before 5 p.m.

The victims' names have not been released.
