FAULKNER COUNTY, Ark. — Tempers flared in central Arkansas between a woman and her boyfriend last weekend and a thrown bag of lettuce was the last straw.
Brenda Sue Odom, 42, couldn't take anymore during an argument with her boyfriend Saturday night, and when he threw a bag of lettuce at her, she snapped, throwing a 4-inch kitchen knife at the man and striking him, Faulkner County authorities said, according to KARK-TV.
Odom had reached for a paring knife in soapy dishwater during the fight. When deputies arrived, they found "a significant amount of blood" leading from the kitchen to a bedroom, Faulkner County Sheriff's Office Cpl. Kenneth Hollis said in an affidavit, The Log Cabin Democrat reported.
“There were both droplets and smears that appear to be sliding footprints,” Hollis said.
Odom was covered in blood when authorities arrived at the couple's residence in Mayflower, according to the affidavit, and her clothes were taken into evidence, according to the Democrat.
The distraught woman, who told deputies she and her boyfriend were drinking before the fight, said this wasn’t the first violent altercation between the pair. She said she had drank eight beers and that she “dreads paydays because (her boyfriend) buys beers and they always get into fights.”
Investigators arrested Odom and charged her with aggravated assault.
She’s jailed on a $15,000 bond.
