An American tourist and her guide who were kidnapped last week were reported safe Sunday after the safari company paid a $500,000 ransom.
Kimberly Sue Endicott, 35, and guide Jean Paul Mirenge Remenzo were kidnapped at gunpoint by four men dressed in military uniforms last Tuesday from Queen Elizabeth National Park in Uganda, NBC News reported.
Officials with the safari company, Wild Frontiers, said they paid the $500,000 ransom, The New York Times reported.
Endicott and Remenzo were dropped off in Ishasha, which is on the border of Uganda and the Democratic Republic of Congo.
They are being interviewed by police. The kidnappers are still at large.

The park is typically considered a safe place for tourists. It was supposed to be a dream vacation for Endicott, her friends told KNBC.
