SUV Crashes Into Apt.; Narrowly Misses Baby Crib

DULUTH, Ga. — An SUV crashed into a child's bedroom Wednesday morning, narrowly missing a baby's crib, Gwinnett County Fire and Emergency Services Capt. Tommy Rutledge confirmed to Channel 2.

The crash happened at an apartment complex on Howell Landing in Duluth.

Rutledge said the SUV partially crashed into a brick wall between two bedrooms in the ground floor unit.

"The vehicle came to rest in a closet in a child's bedroom, only a few feet away from a crib where a toddler was sleeping," said Rutledge.

Police said 22-year-old Christopher Spence of Duluth was arrested as he attempted to flee the scene. Two others were seen leaving the scene of the crash, police said, but there names have not been released.

Rutledge said the family was at home sleeping when the crash occurred.

"Other than being frightened from the ordeal, they were not hurt," Rutledge said.

The incident only affected one apartment unit.

Duluth police are investigating the circumstances of the crash.
