Ross Harris' ex-wife says she still believes he's innocent

COBB COUNTY. Ga. — The ex-wife of a man accused of killing his son by leaving him in a hot car says she still believes her ex is innocent.

Ross Harris and Leanna Taylor finalized their divorce just last month.

Harris is accused of leaving their 2-year-old son Cooper in the back of a hot car for nearly seven hours in June 2014.

Police say their investigation revealed not only that Harris was sexting underage girls and having extramarital affairs, but that he also researched hot car deaths.

Taylor’s attorney says, despite those facts, she still believes he did not murder their son.

“Her story and her beliefs have never once wavered. She believes it was an accident. There was no intent,” Lawrence Zimmerman said.

Zimmerman says Taylor was unaware her ex-husband was texting other women, but that doesn’t change her beliefs. %

“She thinks that Ross did not do this intentionally, whether he was sexting or whatever the salacious allegations are, that it was not purposeful that he left Cooper in the car,” Zimmerman said.

Zimmerman believes Taylor will be called on to testify during Harris’ trial, though he did not say which side, defense or prosecution, plans to call her to the stand.

He says Taylor, even after the divorce, believes Harris was a good father.

“Still doesn't change that she believes Mr. Harris was a good father to Cooper. There's never been any issues with that,” Zimmerman said.
