Sketch released in Roswell man's death
Ladell Crumpton

ROSWELL, Ga.,None — The family of a slain Roswell man is pleading for anyone with information to come forward.

"Please, let's get some justice for Ladell," Ladell Crumpton's father said, who asked Channel 2's Mike Petchenik not to identify him.

Crumpton, 31, was shot and killed Jan. 8 after opening the door to his apartment at Concepts 21, a complex off Old Holcomb Bridge Road.

Police initially said it happened at a party, but they now believe the party had been long over and that Crumpton and some friends were hanging out at the time of the shooting.

"We had some good leads, we still have some good leads," Lt. James McGee said, adding that he didn't believe the shooting was random.

"When you're working a homicide, you want to cover everything that you can. That's what we're doing now," McGee said.

This week, the Roswell Police Department released a sketch of a person of interest in Crumpton's death.

"We believe he possibly could have been in the area," McGee said. "We want to talk to him, find out if he's seen anything or he didn't: cross him off our list."

Crumpton's father said the family has been devastated by the killing.

"It's been real hard," he said. "The Lord has called truly an angel back home."

Crumpton was a father of two himself, and his own father told Petchenik the children are taking the death especially hard.

"It's really a loss," the father said. "Just a loss."

Police said a tip leading to the arrest and conviction of a shooter could result in a reward. Anyone with information can call anonymously to Crime Stoppers at (404) 577-8477.
