• Officer Shot During Scuffle With Woman

    AUSTELL, Ga. - A Cobb County police officer was shot when he arrived to back up another officer who was responding to a suspicious person call on Veterans Memorial Highway in Austell.

    Investigators said when the second officer arrived at the scene Thursday night, he found the first officer in a scuffle with a woman.

    Police said the woman, identified as Latoya Lena Perkins, pulled the first officer's gun partially out of the holster and shot the second officer in the leg.

    The injured officer is expected to be OK.

    Perkins is expected to face charges. The names of the officers have not been released.
