No. 9 matches up $20K prize for Rabun County winner

ATLANTA — Linda Arrington of Tiger has selected an exciting prize from the Georgia Lottery using her lucky No. 9. Arrington, 51, was selected as a big winner in the Georgia Lottery’s $1 & $2 Play It Again Second Chance Promotion.

She won a $20,000 prize recently in Atlanta.

As a monthly grand prize winner in the Georgia Lottery’s $1 & $2 Play It Again Second Chance Promotion, Arrington won a chance to select one envelope from 20, with prizes ranging from $5,000 to $100,000.

The envelope labeled No. 9 that Monroe chose contained a $20,000 prize.

“I picked No. 9 because it has special meaning to me,” Arrington explained. “My son and I were born in September, I was married in September, and my grandson was born on the ninth.”

Monroe considers the windfall “perfect timing” since she’d already planned on visiting her daughter, who is in the U.S. Air Force stationed in California.

“I feel very grateful and very lucky,” she shared.

Arrington and her husband, Stanley, together have five children and two grandchildren.

Since its first year, the Georgia Lottery Corp. has returned more than $15 billion to the state of Georgia for education. All Georgia Lottery profits go to pay for specific educational programs, including Georgia’s HOPE Scholarship Program and Georgia’s Pre-K Program. More than 1.6 million students have received HOPE, and more than 1.3 million 4-year-olds have attended the statewide, voluntary prekindergarten program.
