A Texas rapper shot a masked intruder who invaded his home, held his wife at gunpoint and attempted to steal her car, Houston police said Wednesday.
According to the Houston Chronicle, authorities said Demonte Jackson, 20, forced his way into the townhome of Bernard "Bun B" Freeman, a member of the duo UGK, Tuesday evening after the rapper's wife, Queenie Freeman, answered the door.
The Freemans' attorney, Charles Adams, said Jackson pointed a handgun at the woman, who told him to take her Audi, KHOU-TV reported. Meanwhile, Bun B, who was upstairs, grabbed his own handgun and hurried downstairs, police said.
Bun B found the man inside the car in the garage, and both men opened fire before Jackson ran away on foot, authorities said. The rapper pursued Jackson, who was shot in the shoulder, "and forced him to take his mask off," the Chronicle reported.
Jackson fled again and sought treatment at a nearby hospital, police said.
Police arrested Jackson on aggravated robbery and burglary charges. He was jailed on $120,000 bond.
Neither Bun B nor his wife was hurt in the incident, authorities told the Chronicle.
