Mother accidentally shot by son after posting that he ‘gets jacked up' to shoot

Putnam deputies are trying to figure out how a toddler got his hands on a .45-caliber handgun and accidentally shot his mother Tuesday afternoon as she drove down a highway Action News Jax reported.

Putnam deputies found a truck and a horse trailer just after 3 p.m. in the middle of travel lanes on Highway 20 near Rowland Avenue.

They found 31-year-old Jamie Gilt in the front seat with a bullet wound.

Police said Gilt's 4-year-old son shot his mother through the back of her seat as she was driving.

She was taken to UF Health and is in stable condition, according to deputies.

According to Raw Story, Gilt frequently posts on her Facebook and Twitter page about her love of guns and her views on Second Amendment rights.

The night before the shooting, she posted on Facebook that her "4-year-old gets jacked up to target shoot the .22," in response to a post suggesting that guns are a better response to a burglary than calling 911.

Why yes, I do think that being dead might possibly change their plans...

The 4-year-old is now with family members, police said.

Deputies said Gilt was on her way to pick up a horse from family members who lived nearby when she was shot.
