Man indicted in 7-year-old murder case

ATLANTA,None — Channel 2 Action News and The Atlanta Journal-Constitution have learned that the suspect in a 7-year-old Atlanta killing was indicted Tuesday morning.

Torico Montavius Jackson, 30, was formally charged by a Fulton County grand jury in connection with the 2004 murder of John Ray, an employee of the county's Conflict Defender's Office at the time of his death.

The case was solved by Atlanta's Complex and Cold-Case Squad, whose investigators used technology to connect evidence that left holes in the case years earlier.

Jackson's penchant for crime in and around metro Atlanta landed him in Valdosta State Prison. That's where he was when evidence tied him to Ray's killing days before he was due to be released.
