Woman reports rape in Norcross

GWINNETT COUNTY, Ga. — Gwinnett County police are looking for a rapist after a woman reported an attack in the Norcross area.

According to a letter distributed to residents of the Bristol Court Apartments on Peachtree Corners Circle, the rape happened between 8 and 9 a.m. March 18. Police said the victim's sliding-glass door was unlocked.

"The suspect likely made entry through there," said Gwinnett police Cpl. Jake Smith. "There was no forced entry, and he attacked this victim and raped her, then he fled."

Police released a sketch to apartment management, which circulated it to residents.

"Before [the rape], a witness saw a suspicious person in the breezeway and that's really where our sketch comes from," Smith said.

The attack has some residents on edge.

"This is a problem, because it wasn't rape at night. It was 8 o'clock in the morning," said Tashika Jefferson.

She said she'll do anything to protect her two daughters, along with herself.

"It's terrible to think about, because I'm telling you, I'm the type of parent I would kill about my children," she said.

The Bristol Court Apartments referred questions about the rape investigation to police.

Officers said they have canvassed the area and received some tips from the sketch, but no arrests have been made yet.
