• Woman falls asleep at wheel, car lands on top of others in DeKalb

DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. - Police are investigating a crash in DeKalb County after they said the driver fell asleep at the wheel.

According to police, the woman dozed off and lost control of the car. Her car hit five others and ended up on top of one, causing a multitude of damage.

The crash was reported overnight Wednesday at Ultimate Tires and Rims on Covington Highway.

“I came in this morning to see all my cars crushed,” employee Adeb Badmus said. “I’m confused. I don’t know what happened. I can’t explain it. It’s really surprising.”

Police said the driver is a woman in her late 20s, but they did not release her name.

The driver was not hurt and the cars that she hit were empty.

Badmus had to break the news to customers who left their cars for tire work.

“I contacted my customers. They’re not happy,” he said.

A tow truck removed the woman's car just before 4:30 a.m. Thursday.

So far, police have not charged the woman with anything.
