GWINNETT COUNTY, Ga. - Gwinnett County police have charged a woman with vehicular homicide in the death of a tractor-trailer driver.

Several lanes of Interstate 85 northbound were blocked for hours Thursday morning near Steve Reynolds Boulevard due to the crash.

Police said the driver of a Honda Odyssey merged into the tractor-trailer’s lane, striking the truck and causing both vehicles to lose control and slide off the roadway.

Truck driver Eric Murray of Minneapolis, Minn., died on the scene. A passenger in the truck was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the minivan, Maria Zeeyala Torres, also suffered non-life-threatening injuries. She was taken from the hospital to the Gwinnett County Jail on charges of second-degree vehicular homicide, failure to maintain a lane and not having a driver’s license.
