Weekend roadwork may cause big delays for metro drivers

ATLANTA, Ga. — Georgia Department of Transportation officials warn of possible delays on I-285 due to scheduled road projects this weekend.

Closures include some southbound lanes of I-285 from Cascade Road to Langford Parkway and some northbound lanes from Hollowell Parkway to South Cobb Drive.

Drivers near Ga. 400 may experience delays due to a major interchange project. GDOT advises drivers of single-lane closures on I-75 and I-20 due to drain cleaning work.

Several lanes of I-285 west at Ga. 400 in Sandy Springs will be closed Sunday starting at 8 a.m.

Authorities will be conducting reconstruction investigations related to a fatal accident that happened last week. The investigation may take several hours, according to Sandy Springs police. They do not expect the Ga. 400 exit from I-285 to be affected.
