ATLANTA — It’s been an active day for weather -- storms began early Friday morning and continue through the afternoon.
A Severe Thunderstorm Watch is in effect until 8 p.m. in Banks, Clarke, Habersham, Hall, Jackson, Madison, Oglethorpe, Rabun, Stephens, White and Wilkes counties.
Several severe thunderstorm warnings were issued Friday afternoon.
Severe Weather Team 2 Meteorologist Katie Walls said the storms have wind gusts up to 40 mph, up to penny sized hail, frequent lightning and heavy rain are moving through north Georgia right now.
