College student’s friend gave murder suspect ride after she was killed, warrants say

PEACH COUNTY, Ga. — Newly filed warrants accuse a mutual friend of helping conceal the death of a slain Fort Valley State University student when he gave her boyfriend a ride.

Jaivon Abron, 22, has been charged with concealing a death and two counts of making false statements in the murder case of Anitra Gunn.

Warrants obtained by Channel 2 Action News on Thursday show investigators believe Abron gave DeMarcus Little a ride from the intersection of Montrose Street and Belle Street. Prosecutors believe that was just after Little abandoned Gunn’s car at the same location on Valentine’s Day.

The new warrants say investigators also believe Abron lied to investigators Feb. 20, but no details are offered in court documents.

Little, 23, has been charged with malice murder. Investigators believe he strangled Gunn at a property off Greer Road in Crawford County, just short of the Peach County line.

Little, a soldier and Warner Robins native, had been assigned to Fort Gordon in late December 2019, according to a DOD spokesman.

Earlier this week, his attorney declined to say when Little last reported for duty before his February arrest on domestic charges related to his relationship with Gunn.

Channel 2 investigative reporter Nicole Carr spoke with the landowner whose address is listed in the murder warrant as the place where Gunn was choked.

Ed Parent said he started searching his property after he saw news of Gunn’s missing case and the proximity of a property where one of Little’s relatives lives.

“So I said: ‘Well, if he disposed of her, it’s relatively close. He’s not going to take her 100 miles away and dump her in Atlanta,' you know?” Parent said. “I got 42 acres over here that I farm, and I using that area. It’s real secluded, and I was going around checking all the fields to see if I could find anything.”

Instead, on Feb. 18, investigators walked up Parent’s driveway and told him Gunn’s body had been found in the woods across the street. Parent told Carr he believes Little may have killed Gunn on the edge of his property near the road.

“I hate it. It really makes me sick for her family,” Parent said. “Her daddy and all of them. It’s just devastating.”

Little and Abron are being held in Peach County. Abron, a Valdosta native, is set to be arraigned Friday morning.
