A customer reached out with their concerns about spreading the illness through the mail.

Leslie Kelly spoke to Petchenik about her concerns, after she learned about at least one positive COVID-19 case at the branch.

“Now that I’ve found out we’ve got COVID-19 cases there, I’m really concerned because this is something that could inevitably reach every single person, every resident in this community that has a mailbox,” Kelly said.

In a statement, USPS said it has learned of one employee the Alpharetta Post Office testing positive for COVID-19.

“We believe the risk is low for employees who work at the Alpharetta Post Office, but we will keep our employees apprised as new information and guidance becomes available. The safety and well-being of our employees is our highest priority."

Kelly told Petchenik she's worried because her postal carriers aren't wearing gloves or masks.

“You just don’t know if it’s spreading through paper and packages and they’re opening our mailboxes every day,” Kelly said.

Kelly she's concerned for the safety of the workers and customers.

“I don’t want to see in two weeks all of a sudden Alpharetta has this huge spike and North Fulton and Northside Hospital are overfilled with cases,” she said.

The Postal Service says it’s following all CDC guidelines and asking its employees to do the same.
