UGA suspends 3 running backs

ATHENS, Ga.,None — Three University of Georgia running backs have been suspended for one game after violating team policies, the school said on Tuesday.

Freshman Isaiah Crowell, junior Carlton Thomas and redshirt freshman Ken Malcome will serve their suspension on Saturday when the team plays New Mexico State.

“We have certain standards in all that we do and their actions do not reflect the Georgia way. They will serve their suspensions, learn a lesson and I’m sure be better men for it,” head coach Mark Richt said on the team website. Details about the violation were not released.

The suspensions came just days after the team learned running back Richard Samuel would need ankle surgery, leaving the team very thin in the backfield.

The Bulldogs play the 3-5 New Mexico State Aggies in Athens on Saturday afternoon.
