ATHENS, Ga. — One couple will have a reason to celebrate the Georgia Bulldogs National Championship parade for the rest of their lives.

Channel 2 Action News cameras captured the sweet moment a few Dawgs fans got engaged as the parade rolled through Athens Saturday.

Sarah Gries and Luke Lashley were supposedly posing for a photo when Gries got nervous in front of the crowd and tried to balk. Lashley quickly grabbed Gries’ hand, pulled out a ring and got down on one knee.

Gries looked completely stunned and thrilled as she slipped the ring on her finger and planted a big one on Lashley.

Channel 2′s Christian Jennings talked to the couple, who said they met at UGA and both graduated last year.
“We love the Dawgs, we watch all the games together, and I just thought it was the perfect time,” Lashley said. “We’re national champs. What better of a day?”
Gries couldn’t stop smiling and showing off her ring.
“I expected it soon, but I didn’t know it would be today,” Gries said. “I am so happy right now.”
