Teens arrested in Craigslist car scheme

CLAYTON COUNTY, Ga.,None — Clayton County police have arrested two teens accused of using Craigslist to rob people in at least two counties.

Channel 2's Tom Jones was in court Tuesday when one of the suspects, 19-year-old Dalvin Walker, Jr., faced a judge for armed robbery charges.

Police said Walker and 19-year-old Rashon Brown advertised on Craigslist.com to rob people.

"The victims were responding to a Craigslist advertisement for the sale of a car," Magistrate Judge Beatriz Scott said, reading from a criminal warrant.

Officers said the pair posted an ad on Craigslist to sell a car. They later met a potential buyer and her friend at a vacant home in the Lake Spivey Country Club community, police said. They said Walker and Brown then robbed them of $2,800 and stole their car, "While pointing a black-colored firearm at the victims' head placing them in fear," Scott said.

Police said the defendants arrived in a car stolen from another Craigslist robbery in Dekalb County. Channel 2 was there last week when Dekalb County police were at Walker's house investigating the alleged car sale scheme.

"We were doing a search warrant at this home, because we believe this is where the information was placed on Craigslist," DeKalb County Lt. D.A. Steward said at the time.

Walker wasn't at the home while officers searched it.

"I will say at this point that he has pleaded not guilty," Walker's attorney James Studdard said.

Studdard said he needed more time to talk to witnesses and his client before commenting more on the case.

Walker and Brown face armed robbery, aggravated assault, vehicle hijacking, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime and theft by receiving charges.
Both are being held without bond.
