COBB COUNTY, Ga. — Police arrested a man and woman following a high speed chase through neighborhoods and into a Cobb County backyard.
Smyrna police told Channel 2's Ross Cavitt they noticed a speeding Mercedes which they later determined had been stolen on Thursday at about 1 p.m.
Smyrna Police and the GBI followed the car through Smyrna into Mableton at speeds up to 100 mph. Eventually the suspect drove behind a house on Anjul Drive and jumped out of the vehicle.
A Cobb County K-9 officer tracked the pair through the woods and made the arrest.
Stunned neighbors watched it all unfold on their quiet cul-de-sac.
"I thought someone's home was being burglarized or something like that," a resident said. "This is a good neighborhood. We don't have that many people moving around down here."
Records obtained by Cavitt show Brown led police on a high speed chase nearly one year ago in the same area in another stolen car. He was due in court this month.
His passenger, Shan Mitchell, also has a lengthy arrest record that mostly includes drug charges.
