More than $7M in federal assistance offered to victims of January storms

SPALDING COUNTY, Ga. — Federal disaster assistance has topped $7 million for the storms and tornadoes that devastated parts of Georgia six weeks ago.

The feds approved more than $7.48 million for homeowners, renters, and businesses affected in Butts, Henry, Jasper, Meriwether, Newton, Pike, Spalding, and Troup counties.

Homeowners and renters who had damage or losses have until Monday, March 20 to apply for FEMA disaster assistance.

Nearly 2,000 survivors have visited disaster recovery centers to get information and advice about assistance that is available to them.

The Spalding County recover center in Griffin remains open to those who need help navigating FEMA recovery programs.
