New app could help prevent crime in South Fulton County

SOUTH FULTON COUNTY, Ga. — There’s a new neighborhood watch system that could really cut down on crime this summer.

But there’s a catch… everyone needs to download a certain app on their phones.

Police say the app can be very helpful when it comes to citizens reporting crime. It can be even more helpful if everyone gets on board.

Sharese Crawl runs a daycare in South Fulton County. She said if cameras aren’t keeping criminals away, residents have to do something else to protect their property.

According to police, a new app called Neighbors could be the answer.

Police consider it the new neighborhood watch.

The app links residents to same system and they can upload videos from their Ring system. Your local police will also be connected, and they can see surveillance video in real time.

The more people connected, the better it is.

Here’s how it works: You download the free app, put in your name, your address and email. The rest is pretty simple.

Police said this new system will also help police catch package thieves in the act.
