The dam is four or five feet high and around 50 yards long.

Homeowner Winston Barksdale said he knew something just wasn’t right when he saw flooding.

“I was looking out from my home. I could see from my kitchen directly down and saw water build up,” Barksdale “That’s odd because water never builds up out here.”

Barksdale said he’s never seen beavers in the area.

“I respect the engineering they have, but at the same time it’s a nuisance,” Barksdale said.

The dam is in front of a large culvert and Barksdale said when it rains, the water has nowhere to go. He’s afraid the dam could cause serious flooding.

Barksdale said the city sent out a trapper who caught one of the critters, but the dam is a real problem, and it’s a job that is a little over his head.

“I do some work around the house. I use a painter’s pole. 12--foot pole. I extended it because you can’t go down there. You don’t know what you’re going to step in to,” Barksdale said. “I stood on the bank on top, and put the pole down and measured it. It was a little over four feet and some change.”
