18-year-old gunned down as he leaves barbershop, police say

SOUTH FULTON, Ga. — City of South Fulton police are searching for a killer they say opened fire in a crowded strip mall.

Surveillance video caught the last seconds of a teen's life as he left a barbershop in the mall along Old National Highway.

"My reaction is it's just sad to see something like this," shopper Angie Boyd told Channel 2's Justin Wilfon.

Police identifed the victim as 18-year-old Willie Redditt IV.

The video clearly shows Redditt walking around after he came out of the barbershop Friday night. Moments later, a man arrives with a gun and opens fire – all with several other people nearby.

“I can confirm that the suspect was seen fleeing after shots were fired,” said Lt. Derrick Rogers with the city of South Fulton Police Department.

While the suspect ran away, police were called to the scene and found Redditt dead, shot multiple times in the middle of a busy shopping area.

“Any time you have a plaza such as this where you have patrons that are patronizing the businesses in the area and kids – anyone could receive harm. So, we’re just thankful no one else was injured,” Rogers said.

Police told Wilfon they still aren’t sure why the suspect killed the teen. For Boyd, she says she’s seen enough.

“I’m just trying to hurry up and move out of this area because this is not the area for me or my kids,” Boyd said.

The suspect remains on the run.
