School district combats parent-involved fights

ATLANTA,None — Two fights involving parents broke out on Fulton County school buses last week. The district plans to press charges.

"It's absolutely unacceptable. Those parents will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law," Fulton County Schools spokeswoman Samantha Evans said.

The first fight took place on a Westlake High School bus on Wednesday. A girl involved in dispute over a cellphone called her mother, who showed up on the bus with the girl's aunt, and fought the other student, authorities said. One parent was arrested.

Two days later, another fight broke out on a Creekside High School bus. A parent blocked the bus with a car and started fighting on the bus, authorities said.

District officials said they will prosecute both parents involved in the fights.

"This district is very disappointed. Parents should be our number one partners in making sure that our students are successful and that our students are safe," Evans said.
