Cherokee school board member convicted of lying resigns from post

CHEROKEE COUNTY, Ga. — Channel 2 Action News has learned a Cherokee County School Board member facing several years in prison after a jury convicted her of lying to police has resigned from her post.

Cherokee County School District officials said Kelly Marlow submitted her resignation via email to state superintendent Dr. John Barge; the governor, school board members, school board attorney and superintendent of schools were copied on the correspondence.

Marlow's resignation comes days after a jury found her guilty of making false statements. Last year, she claimed the school superintendent nearly ran her over, along with two others after a heated meeting. Jurors also found her associates, Barbara Knowles and Robert Trim, guilty.
