Sandy Springs police search for armed serial robber

SANDY SPRINGS, Ga. — Sandy Springs police are looking for a man who robbed three people in four days, and in one case, shot a man.

The man robbed two victims at the Parc at Perimeter Apartments on Peachtree Dunwoody Road last weekend, police said.  In one case, the man shot a victim in the stomach during the robbery.   A third victim was robbed as he sat on a bench in front of an Extended Stay hotel on Crestline Parkway.

"He surprises the victim," Capt. Steve Rose told Channel 2's Mike Petchenik.  "He comes up and they don't have any prior warning."

Police released a composite sketch of the man, who they describe as erratic and violent.  They've also released surveillance video from a Super Wal-Mart on Pleasant Hill Road in Duluth showing a man and woman leaving the store after using a victim's credit card.

"The thing we're worried about is that this trend might continue," said Rose.   "We want to put everyone on notice that this is going on."

One victim, who asked not to be identified, told Petchenik a man knocked on his door about 10 a.m. Saturday.  When he answered, the victim said the man pointed a gun at his face and forced him back into his apartment.

"Just give me that TV and my wallet," he said the assailant told him.  "He took my wallet. The whole thing."

The victim told Petchenik the man forced him to remove a 40-inch television from the wall and carry it outside for him, before fleeing.

"I was shaken up," the man said.  "It's a very quiet neighborhood.  I never thought this would happen on a Saturday morning."
