30 cars broken into in one night in Conyers

ROCKDALE COUNTY, Ga. — Thieves broke into more than 30 cars in one night in Conyers.

Police said all the cars were unlocked. They stepped up patrols in the neighborhood Wednesday night.

“Very surprised. That’s the first time that’s happened in this neighborhood that I know,” neighbor Romana Plummer said.

Plummer is one of the many victims of the break-ins early Wednesday morning.

Thieves rummaged through her car, but did not take anything.

“It feels very violating. You never want folks to just go in your stuff and do as they please,” she said.

Plummer’s next-door neighbor said the same thing happened to his car.

Conyers police said the thieves went from neighborhood to neighborhood and from car to car, looking for cars that weren’t locked.

They got away with miscellaneous items from multiple vehicles.

Victims said they will take extra precaution in case the thieves come back.

“I’m going to try my best to keep it protected tonight. Keep a better eye on it. Lock it up,” one neighbor said.

Police are asking neighbors to keep an eye out for anyone suspicious and call 911.
