Road rage shooting on I-75 sends bullets into car with 3-year-old inside

ATLANTA — A road rage shooting on Interstate 75 sent bullets into a mother's car with her 3-year-old son in the back seat.

It happened Oct. 14 around 10 p.m. when a driver honked at someone driving a Dodge Caravan for merging without signaling at I-75 near Georgia 400.

Police said the minivan driver followed the other driver and started shooting when the two approached an area near Grady Hospital.

Police are now looking for the white minivan and a driver who fired shots into two cars, miraculously not hurting anyone.

"All of a sudden, I hear this loud bang," said the victim, who only wanted to be identified as Brittany.

Brittany said she was on her way to Disney World with her mother and 3-year-old son.

"If it would have made it all the way through, it would have hit my mom," she said.

Brittany said she wasn't even involved with the road rage that led to the shooting.

"As all this is happening, I hear about four shots," she said. "It was very unnerving for sure. One of those bullets could have hit me or my child. It definitely went a different way. That's for sure."

An Atlanta Police Department spokesperson said the department has a picture of the minivan because the other victim involved snapped it before the shooter hoped on I-20 Westbound.

"The victim in this case was able to give a description of the shooter, the car, the direction of the travel," TaSheena Brown with the Atlanta Police Department said.

Brittany hopes the picture helps find the person who put many lives at risk.

"Obviously, they should go to jail for that," she said.

The Dodge Caravan appears to have a temporary tag on it, which made it hard for police to track. The shooter is described as a black man between the ages of 30 and 40 years old.
