Teen injured after falling from tree near Yellow River

GWINNETT COUNTY, Ga. — A teen girl dislocated her shoulder after falling from a tree and landing near the edge of Yellow River in Lilburn.

Authorities told Channel 2's Richard Elliot the girl may have been swinging from a limb that snapped and sent her to the ground.

News Chopper 2 flew over Stone Mountain Highway and Jessica Daron Court, where paramedics were trying to treat her and remove her from the scene to get further medical care.

Elliot said the terrain made it difficult for paramedics to take a regular stretcher to the area. The Swift Water Rescue Team could not get its boat down the trail either. Crews ended up walking a stretcher down to the edge of the river. They had to carry the girl up the trail since she was unable to walk.

Elliot saw paramedics taking the girl to the ambulance shortly after 4 p.m.

She is expected to be OK.
