Suspect accused of murdering Newton Co. father arrested

NEWTON COUNTY, Ga. — Police have arrested one of three suspects in the death of of a Newton County father.

Abdul Davon Williams, also known as "Little Dreads," is being held in the Orange County jail in Florida. He is charged with murder, possession of cannabis and resisting arrest. No time or date has been set for his extradition.

Williams, 23, is charged with the murder of Adrian Brooks.

Police are still seeking information on the other two suspects One is described as a black man with long dreadlocks between 35 and 40 years old and weighing 160-180 pounds. The other is Hispanic, with long, dark straight hair, between 30 and 35 years old and 155 and 165 pounds.

The 35-year-old father was gunned down at his girlfriend's duplex home on Gum Tree Trail in Covington the night of July 3.

"It's really heavy. You look for someone there you normally see day to day. And after a couple of minutes, you don't see them no more. So it's a longing," resident Husletta Mitchell said.

Mitchell, an aunt of the victim, said she saw her nephew about a half hour before he was shot.

"All we can do is pray," said Mitchell.

Newton County sheriff's investigators told Channel 2's Tom Regan that the victim was shot in the stomach and that three men were spotted leaving the area in a white vehicle that looked like a Toyota Camry.

Another neighbor said the shooting has left many on her street shocked and saddened.

"I'm so sorry for the family. I'm grieving for myself right now," neighbor Candice Bledsoe said.
