• Police: Woman killed by hit-and-run driver

    Atlanta police say a woman was killed when she was struck by a hit-and-run driver while crossing the street Tuesday morning.

    Police said the woman was crossing Martin Luther King Jr. Drive in a crosswalk at Bakers Ferry Road around 6 a.m. when a dark-colored SUV struck the women.

    The driver did not stop and the woman was left on the sidewalk with severe injuries, police said.

    Police said the woman died at the scene and was taken to the Fulton County Medical Examiner’s office, where she was identified as Cassandra Head, 53.

    Police said the investigation is ongoing.
